Working Class is a full-service restaurant and bar that serves comfort food, 25 rotating craft beers on tap and a dog and kid-friendly atmosphere for the North Park community.
Owners Jeff Kiyama and Paul Fatta met each other in 2013, then combined their restaurant experience to open Working Class in 2018 on 30th Street and Polk Avenue in North Park. The restaurant doors are open 9 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
“Coming into North Park was a little scary being how high the supply is for restaurants even with the high demand. We filled a void when it came to being a full service restaurant, family friendly, dog friendly, with a reasonable price point and friendly service,” Kiyama said. “As simple as they seem, the combination of all those characteristics sets us apart.”

The restaurant’s large and colorful front and back outdoor patios offer great spaces for private events, large family breakfasts, lunches and dinners and happy hours with friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Working Class offers a friendly environment to gather, eat and drink, and join in on events throughout the week.
“The name Working Class came from the idea that working is something that most everyone can relate to. It isn’t supposed to have a literal economic reference or have a Marxist connection. We just wanted to create a bar/restaurant that was comfortable and welcoming to anyone at any time for any occasion,” Kiyama said.
You can grab $5 draft beer and wine during late night happy hour 10 p.m. to close Sunday through Thursday and 12 p.m. to close Friday and Saturday. Wednesday trivia nights are hosted from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and you can watch the FIFA Women’s World Cup with a craft beer from now through July 7.
Kiyama said he and Fatta really appreciate every visit from customers who choose Working Class even with all of the options in North Park and San Diego.
“The majority of our clientele is from the area and they are truly the best thing about North Park. We get daily, weekly, and monthly visits from locals, and they are what gives us life and energy,” Kiyama said.
