A Big Thank You for a Successful Taste of North Park!
As we reflect on the resounding success of this year’s Taste of North Park, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to everyone who participated and supported this event. Over 1,200 people joined us to taste and sip their way through our vibrant neighborhood, making this one of our most successful years yet!
This year, we implemented a few key changes, including four check-in locations at the corners of our district. This not only helped reduce wait times but also gave a boost to businesses that may not typically experience high foot traffic. It was an effective way to showcase the incredible variety of restaurants, breweries, and shops North Park has to offer. It truly felt like a celebration of the local flavors and unique energy that make our community so special.
A special thank you to Carly Ealey (@carlyealey) and Chris Konecki (@konecki_art) for their stunning Padres mural, which brought a wave of SD pride to Taste of North Park. Their incredible artwork added to the electric atmosphere, and it was a joy to see so many attendees drawn in by their vibrant, creative energy. Their contributions truly elevated the day, and we are grateful for their partnership.
A big thank you to all the businesses that participated and made this event shine! Your dedication and creativity were on full display, and the feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive. We were also excited to partner with MTS this year to provide free bus tickets, making it easier for people to get around the neighborhood. Encouraging public transit use is an important step as North Park continues to grow, and we’re thrilled to be part of that change.
Looking Ahead: Taste 2025 and Future Events
We’re already thinking about how to make next year’s Taste of North Park even better! One thing we’re currently evaluating is the timing. October has become a busy month for events in San Diego, so we’re exploring new dates that will allow us to stand out even more. Stay tuned for updates!
If you’re interested in being part of our future events, I encourage you to join our Economic Development Committee meetings, held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 11 AM. This is where we brainstorm ideas and plan the details that make events like Taste a reality. Can’t make it? Reach out to us directly—we’d love to hear your ideas and explore other ways for you to get involved.
Shop Local: November 30th
Next on our calendar is Shop Local, also known as Small Business Saturday, on November 30th. We’ll be organizing live art and music performances, promoting our business district, and working to attract holiday shoppers to North Park. It’s the perfect opportunity for residents and visitors alike to spend a day eating, shopping, and exploring everything our neighborhood has to offer.
Stay Tuned for Our Annual Report
Finally, keep an eye out for our Annual Report, which will highlight the programs and activities we worked on in fiscal year 2024. It’s a comprehensive look at how we’re supporting the businesses and community members that make North Park such a wonderful place to live and work.
Thank you all again for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and committee meetings!
Sincerely,
Mark West
