Michelle Robinson – Ray Street Custom Framing:
Ray Street Custom Framing Owner Michelle Robinson has been a student and lover of art since she was a child. She received her B.S. Ed. in art education from the University of Georgia in 1999. Having lived in San Diego now for ten years, Michelle has enjoyed and collaborated with many other artists and businesses here in North Park. As she began to frame more of her own pieces, she realized how important presentation and conservation are to both the artist and the collector. She became interested in custom framing as a way to enhance and protect the things that inspire people every day.
Ray Street Custom Framing is a vibrant artisan shop celebrated for its custom design, personal attention, and quality service located in the cultural epicenter of the North Park arts community. With a colorful blend of artistic instinct and trending design at your fingertips, you’ll find exciting possibilities for custom framing and preserving your most cherished art.
Gail Higgins – The Girl Can’t Help It:
Gail Higgins, AKA “Sparkle” is the owner of The Girl Can’t Help It – a vintage store which specializes in the Golden Age of Hollywood; but their unique finds stretch from the 20’s to the 80’s. After years of business in London, The Girl Can’t Help It relocated to North Park in 2012. Gail has definitely lived an interesting life – “from a buyer at Barney’s in NYC to starting one of the first burlesque clubs in London, Sparkle was married to a band member from The Rockats, even tour-managed The Heartbreakers, a punk rock band, for years across Europe and has been proudly selling quality vintage for 25 years,” (americandrifterblog).
