In honor of Veteran’s Day, we’d like to highlight Salina Navarro, a Navy Veteran and local North Park business owner.

Salina Navarro is a new small business owner bringing the full-body, mindful workout Barre3 to North Park in the coming months. Salina is an eternal optimist, mother of two, a military spouse, and Navy Veteran.

Salina attended the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy in 2004. She served as a Surface Warfare Officer for over seven years on active duty and another five as a Reservist. Her service included time stationed in Japan, Virginia, and San Diego on ships and shore tours. Once stationed in San Diego, she knew this was home and where she’d ultimately be happy to raise her family.

Salina is grateful for her time in the Navy that taught her the importance of hard work, perseverance, grit, teamwork; and the many leadership lessons she learned along the way. Salina is proud of her time serving our country as a Naval Officer, but even more excited about making a difference locally as a Barre3 studio owner by bringing more health and happiness to San Diego. She discovered the healing power of Barre3 while her family was living in Alexandria, Virginia during her husband’s tour at the Pentagon. A fitness enthusiast, she’s always loved working out, but after her first Barre3 class she knew it was something special and different than any other workout she’d ever tried. She knew in her gut she wanted to bring the welcoming community, beautiful and warm studio environment, and awesome workout to San Diego.

Salina is more inspired than ever to serve our community with a mindful workout and create an inclusive and supportive community. While her physical studio space in North Park has faced delays in construction and opening due to COVID-19, she’s built a small but mighty instructor team, already teaching remarkable workouts via livestream (Zoom) and outdoor classes in local parks. The opportunity to ultimately build a studio in North Park is a dream she’s patiently awaiting, where she can serve as many people in San Diego as possible.

“I’m excited for our studio to be our clients’ home away from home, a place where they feel seen, heard, supported, and where they’re encouraged to take up space and empowered to listen to their bodies and minds. I love barre3 because it’s truly a workout for everybody, and we want everyone to experience the power of movement and community. My team and I can’t wait to move, breathe, and connect with you, now via livestream or an outdoor class, and in the studio in the near future,” said Navarro.

Thank you for your service, Salina!
