University Avenue Mobility Project Update

Project Phases
The project will be divided into three phases, all located along University Avenue. Hours of Operation are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless otherwise noted:

• Phase 1: From Florida Street to Oregon Street.
• Phase 2: From Oregon Street to Illinois Street is scheduled to last approximately 3.5 months.
• Phase 3: From Illinois Street to Boundary Street is scheduled to last approximately 3 months.

Here’s What’s Happening

• Week of 4 October: Crews will work in the median on University Avenue from Louisiana Street to Oregon Street.

1. Remove old trolley tracks at new medians.
2. Continue potholing for utilities.
3. Finish excavation for medians.
4. Prepare forms to install curb and gutter at medians.

• Week of 11 October: Crews will continue work in the median on University Avenue from Louisiana Street to Oregon Street.

1. Construct median curbs.
2. Bore electrical conduits across University Avenue.
3. Construct median noses.
4. Install irrigation within medians.
5. Construct foundations, ramp areas for poles.
6. Survey Phase 2 area in preparation for upcoming work.

• Week of 18 October: Crews will continue work in the median on University Avenue from Louisiana Street to Oregon Street. Work will begin on Phase 2 along University Avenue from Oregon Street to Illinois Street.

1. Continue survey work for Phase 2 area (from Oregon Street to Illinois Street).
2. Begin demolition of curb ramps for Phase 2.
3. Form and construct curb ramps.
4. Continue potholing for utilities.

What To Expect

Please remember to always exercise caution near the work zone and note that:

• Lane closures, detours and restricted access may be implemented during working hours
• Speed limits may be reduced in the construction area
• Safety measures will be implemented to ensure bicyclists and pedestrians will be allowed access throughout the project.
