Project Phases
The project will be divided into three phases, all located along University Avenue. Hours of Operation are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. unless otherwise noted:
- Phase 1: From Florida Street to Oregon Street.
- Phase 2: From Oregon Street to Illinois Street is scheduled to last approximately 3.5 months.
- Phase 3: From Illinois Street to Boundary Street is scheduled to last approximately 3 months.
Here’s What’s Happening
- Week of 4 October: Crews will work in the median on University Avenue from Louisiana Street to Oregon Street.
- Remove old trolley tracks at new medians.
- Continue potholing for utilities.
- Finish excavation for medians.
- Prepare forms to install curb and gutter at medians.
- Week of 11 October: Crews will continue work in the median on University Avenue from Louisiana Street to Oregon Street.
- Construct median curbs.
- Bore electrical conduits across University Avenue.
- Construct median noses.
- Install irrigation within medians.
- Construct foundations, ramp areas for poles.
- Survey Phase 2 area in preparation for upcoming work.
- Week of 18 October: Crews will continue work in the median on University Avenue from Louisiana Street to Oregon Street. Work will begin on Phase 2 along University Avenue from Oregon Street to Illinois Street.
- Continue survey work for Phase 2 area (from Oregon Street to Illinois Street).
- Begin demolition of curb ramps for Phase 2.
- Form and construct curb ramps.
- Continue potholing for utilities.
What To Expect
Please remember to always exercise caution near the work zone and note that:
- Lane closures, detours and restricted access may be implemented during working hours
- Speed limits may be reduced in the construction area
- Safety measures will be implemented to ensure bicyclists and pedestrians will be allowed access throughout the project.
