As we continue to navigate the dynamic landscape of our beloved North Park district, I am pleased to share several important updates that reflect our ongoing commitment to enhancing our community.
Maintenance Update:
For over six months, our North Park Maintenance App has been a game-changer. This tool has significantly improved our crews’ response times and has provided business and property owners with an easy way to communicate their non-emergent needs. The data collected from the app allows us to prioritize our limited resources effectively to serve our community better.
We encourage everyone to download and use the North Park Maintenance App whenever you are within the North Park Special Enhancement District. One of the notable changes we’ve implemented, based on app data, is the adjustment of our maintenance personnel hours to include evening coverage during busy weekends. This extended coverage ensures quicker response times during high traffic periods, benefiting both businesses and property owners.
Summer Pressure Washing:
As summer heats up, NPMS is back to a full pressure washing schedule to maintain the cleanliness of our district. The increased heat exacerbates certain issues, making it crucial to provide an enhanced level of service to our public right of way. Our goal is to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for all who visit North Park.
Mental Health America Training:
Like many commercial districts in San Diego, North Park has seen an increase in interactions with mentally ill individuals. These interactions can be challenging and stressful for business staff and the wider community. In response, NPMS is organizing a Mental Health First Aid training in collaboration with Mental Health America. This training aims to equip businesses with the skills to handle such interactions more effectively. If you are interested in participating, please reach out to us. We will also provide notice to our community when the training date and agenda are finalized.
Community Shuttle Program and Mobility Committee:
North Park Main Street, in partnership with City Heights CDC, has been working diligently on a community shuttle program. I am excited to announce that we have secured a $1.5 million grant to launch a micro-mobility pilot program serving our community. We are in the final stages of completing the legal requirements to get this program underway, and the anticipation is palpable.
To support this initiative, NPMS is launching a Mobility Committee dedicated to leading community engagement and planning for projects like these. The committee will focus on four main pillars: Walking, Biking, Riding, and Parking. Our goal is to use this program to communicate our district’s needs to the City, North Park Planning Committee, and Mid City Parking District, and to activate our partners to bring about sustainable change.
If this sounds interesting to you, we invite you to join us for our mobility meetings on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 1 pm. You can sign up for the agenda here.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Together, we are making North Park a vibrant and thriving community.
