North Park Main Street Committees
North Park Main Street is supported by a volunteer Board of Directors. There are four volunteer committees that work together with the staff of NPMS to build a sustainable and complete community revitalization effort. All committee meetings are open to the public – if you are interested in getting involved, please feel free to join us!
Board of Directors
The North Park Main Street Board of Directors is a group of fifteen volunteer members who are dedicated to the economic prosperity of North Park’s central downtown core. At any given time, at least twelve of those board members must hold business tax certificates for a business located within the boundaries of the North Park Business Improvement District (BID). Up to three seats may be held by associate members. Board members represent a cross-section of merchant types, as well as, a balanced distribution of business locations. Directors serve for a two year term. Elections are held each September. The Promotions Committee works to create an effective promotional strategy for North Park to forge a positive image through advertising, retail promotional activity, special events, and marketing campaigns carried out by local volunteers. These activities improve consumer and investor confidence in the district and encourage commercial activity and investment in the area, as well as serve as fundraisers for the North Park Main Street organization.

Formerly the Economic Restructuring Committee, this group’s focus is providing support for existing and potential businesses to flourish by Selling a positive image of the commercial district and encourages consumers and investors to live, work, shop, play and invest in the Main Street district. By marketing a district’s unique characteristics to residents, investors, business owners, and visitors. The Main Street program helps sharpen the competitiveness of existing business owners and recruits compatible new businesses and new economic uses to build a commercial district that responds to today’s consumers’ needs.

The Design Committee is responsible to overseeing programs that impact our built environment. This can be anything from street banners to with the goal of maintaining an inviting atmosphere in North Park. Developing creative ways to integrate parking areas, building improvements, street furniture, signs, sidewalks, street lights and landscaping into our neighborhood helps conveys a positive visual message about the commercial district and what it has to offer. Design activities also include instilling good maintenance practices in the commercial district, enhancing the physical appearance of the commercial district by rehabilitating historic buildings, encouraging appropriate new construction, developing sensitive design management systems, and long-term planning.

The Organization Committee now meets as needed as part of the Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee is made up of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and North Park Main Street Staff.
The Executive Committee meets on the Friday prior to the Board of Directors Meeting each month at 12 Noon at the North Park Main Street Office – 3939 Iowa Street, Suite 2 , San Diego, CA 92104 (subject to change)
