Everyone is invited to the annual celebration for Our Lady of Guadalupe, a tradition of more than 50 years at our diocese. The annual procession begins at 11 a.m. at the Morley Field Sports Complex at Upas and Arnold Streets, and travels up Upas, then on to 28th Street, Redwood Street, 32nd Street, and ends at St. Augustine High School at Nutmeg and 32nd. The procession includes parish and school groups, musicians, Aztec dancers, movimientos, and brightly colored cars.
That’s followed by a bilingual Mass at 1 p.m. at the gymnasium of St. Augustine High School, celebrated by Cardinal Robert W. McElroy, accompanied by Auxiliary Bishops Ramón Bejarano, Michael Pham and Felipe Pulido and diocesan clergy.
Afterward, there’s a great fiesta with mariachi music and traditional Mexican food, all to honor and celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas.
