Spring Festival 2001

This year the North Park Spring Festival got bigger, better and just more enjoyable.  Truly a celebration for children of all ages, the North Park Spring Festival attracted an estimated 35,000 people.  People who came not only from North Park and the inner city, but also from all over the county.
As always the North Park Spring Festival featured Mikey Jay, star of Karaoke Live, and his Karaoke Stage, classic cars, chalk walk and children's row, delicious international foods, a wonderful collection of vendors, and hours and hours of awesome music.  The North Park Spring Festival also had community and business information, plus handmade arts and crafts.
This year May 20, 2001 in North Park was the time and place to be.  Not only were there all the old favorites but the 2001 Spring Festival this year had the one and only dance performance stage at any street fair in the county.
Sponsored by Sycuan, the dance performance stage captured droves of people.  Everyone who came stayed, enchanted by the eclectic blend of international disciplines that followed one after another throughout the entire day.

Boundaries of the 2001 Spring Festival

This year was the fifth year of the North Park Spring Festival and its most successful to date.  In the last three years the Spring Festival has grown in crowds and in size.  Growing from two to five blocks in three years, and now attracts crowds easily in excess of 30,000 people.  North Park Main Street received awards for the Spring Festival this year as well, one from the Office of Mayor Dick Murphy, and another from 3rd District Councilmember Toni Atkins.  Rest assured, the North Park Spring Festival is a part of this neighborhood, and will be back next year.  Mark your calendars for May 19, 2002 and the North Park Spring Festival.
